When Upper Red Lake starts to freeze over, that's when the fishing at Mort's really gets exciting! December through February it is great fishing for walleye, northern, and crappie. From sleeper houses and day houses to easy lake access to on/off sale, we have a little something for everyone when you need to get away from the daily grind.
When you stay at Mort’s, you can rest assured that you have 24 hour assistance available if something goes wrong on the lake. Mother Nature can throw some curveballs, and our staff will strive to be right there to help you out if needed.
Bring your snowmobiles too – you’ll never run out of places to travel! Mort’s has close access to hundreds of miles of the finest snowmobile trails in Minnesota!

All of our fish houses have: Table and chairs, direct vent heaters with thermostats for safe even heating, gas lights, gas cook stoves or full range, mattresses, rattle wheels on every hole, carpeted floors, 2 holes per fisherman and private attached bathrooms. All ice houses are generator ready (bring your own) and all rentals include the road access fee.
You will need to bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, fishing license, food, beverages, cooking utinsils, pots, pans, bait and tackle. If you want power, you will need to bring a generator.
